The children in Year One have been learning about castles and thinking what life must have been like many years ago. They have been designing and creating their own castles as well as acting out a banquet fit for Royalty!

Maths

We have been so busy in maths this term! We have been learning about 2D shapes, 3D shapes, telling the time, measuring, weighing, adding, subtracting...... no wonder we are tired by home-time!

This term we have been learning about 'Church as a Christian place of worship'. We went to explore our own Spetisbury Church and found the pulpit, font, lectern and lots of stained glass windows, and we have even had a lesson in bell-ringing from Mrs Margrie!

Superheroes

Before Easter we had great fun thinking about who our real-life and fictional superheroes are, and then playing like a superhero would!

Then we thought about a real-life superhero who lived a very long time ago - Florence Nightingale. We learnt  how she helped save the lives of many soldiers by improving the conditions in Scutari hospital where they were sent. We wrote letters from Florence and did lots of role play.... Our classroom was full of injured soldiers, smelly rats, Florence Nightingales and other brave nurses!
