Summer 2017
Mary Anning - fossil expert!
We learnt about the life of Mary Anning. She was a famous paleontologist who lived not very far from us, in Lyme Regis. She found the first fossil of an Ichthyosaurus - it was very big!
Spring 2017 - Fire, Fire!
This term we have been learning about the Great Fire of London. We made this fantastic display board and we also made our own 'bread' (out of salt dough) to put in the oven of our role play area!
Far Away Lands - Kenya
Monty the monkey was delivered to our school by mistake! The postman should have taken him to Spetisburg Wildlife Park in Kenya, but he got muddled up and so Monty came to Spetisbury School. We all looked after him very well, and whilst he was staying with us we learnt how to use a map to find Kenya, and then we learnt about different features in the country like mountains and valleys. We also learnt lots of interesting facts about monkeys including that they are omnivores because they eat everything!
Monty came back to our homes with us and we all wrote in a special book about his visit with us. We put our book up on our display board so that you can read it when you come to visit us!
We have been learning about all the different pairs that make 10. We know that some numbers, like 8 and 2 or 9 and 1 are 'special friends' which always add up to 10. We used cubes to show all of the different number pairs that make up 10. We have also learnt a special song which helps us to remember all of the bonds to 10 - why not ask your child to sing it to you?!
We have also been learning how to name and recognise 2D and 3D shapes.
Welcome to Rabbits Class!
We have had a great start to our new term, and have been so busy learning whilst having fun!
Here are some photos to show you some of the things that we have been doing......
