Your Class Teacher is Mrs Orth and is supported by the brilliant Mrs Knightbridge. Have a look at the fun learning we do below.
We have been exploring the school grounds on a mini beast hunt. Children have investigated mini beasts in a micro-habitat and used an identification sheet to name their mini beasts. We have researched different insects, spiders and molluscs and written exciting and eye-catching reports.
We received a delivery of Painted Lady caterpillars that are busy growing in our classroom. We will let you know what happens.
On Friday 20th of May our butterflies began to emerge. It was such an amazing sight and inspired us to draw, make and explore.
We have had great fun learning about the foods we need to eat to stay healthy. We made our own food pyramid using the food packaging we had collected at home. In groups we researched how foods such as chocolate are made. We sorted everyday foods into groups depending whether they came from animals or plants. We then designed our own healthy food superheroes and lunch boxes. As a class we created an exercise trail to find out which exercise would tire us out the most and found that running and jumping made our hearts beat faster.
Great Fire of London
This half term, the children in Year 2 have been studying the Great Fire of London. They have found out all about where, when and how it started and have been learning about Samuel Pepys, who recorded his version of events in a diary. The children have made models of the typical buildings found in London at the time, and even recreated the events leading up to and during the fire.
