CHILDREN IN NEED
Otter class kept silent in maths as we played a matching game.
We had sort maths cards and collect sets before our team could win and of course throughout we were totally silent.
In Maths we have been creating our own problems for our friends to solve and teaching each other how to use column addition and subtraction.
In French lessons we have been learning to say hello and goodbye. We acted out everyday scenes to help us gain confidence in speaking a new language.
Viking Long Ship Art
Welcome to Otter Class
Our first topic this year is the Anglo-Saxon's and Vikings. We had an incredible experience day at the Ancient Technology Centre and took part in interactive activities to see what life was like at this time in history. During the day we made bread and butter and cooked it on an open fire that we started ourselves. We also collected dye plants and learnt how to dye natural fabrics. We honed our skills at archery in a grand contest and spun sheep's wool into thread. We then learnt how to weave the thread to make Viking belts. It was a wonderful day and we learnt a great deal. Thank you to all our adult helpers and the staff at the A.T.C.
We acted out the story of Beowulf which has inspired lots of our writing this term.
This term our topic has been The Groovy Greeks. As part of our learning we found out about Ancient Greek Theatre and designed and made our own Hero and Monster masks based on the characters from famous Greek myths.
Can you spot Medusa, the snake headed Gorgon, the hero Perseus, the Sea Nymphs, The Minotaur, The Cyclops and the Grey Ones?
We worked together to perform the play of Perseus and the Gorgon Medusa.
This term we are exploring rocks and fossils. We have learnt to identify and sort different Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks and played the Rock Stars game.
Recording 'HAPPY' The Spetisbury School Song.
We worked with music producer Ryan Glover to record the lyrics to our school song.
We sang into a microphone in groups and learnt how a music CD is put together.
